1 c Brown sugar, packed
3/4 c Butter or margarine
softened 1/2 ts Vanilla e tract
1/2 ts Maple e tract
1 Egg
1 1/2 c All purpose flour or
unbleached 3/4 ts Baking powder
3/4 ts Baking soda
1/4 ts Salt
1 c Dates finely chopped
1/2 c Chopped nuts walnuts or
pecans Recipe by: Pillsbury, Cookies, Brownies and amp Bars, 1991 In a large bowl, beat the brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla e tract, maple e tract and egg blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup level off. Stir in the flour, baking powder,baking soda and salt mi well. Stir in the dates and nuts. Cover with plastic wrap refrigerate for 30 minutes for easier handling. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes, or
